Ed Foster guided his Shrewsbury team to victory with an unbeaten 98 in the National Club Championship final at Derby’s County Ground.

The 26-year-old Shrewsbury skipper hit 12 off the last over to win the match and the cup after Cambridge Granta had set 221 to win from their 45 overs.
Alex Fullarton starred for Cambridge in the first innings, holding his team together and hitting seven fours and one six on his way to 87 not out.

Craig Park smacked 45 from 31 balls before being stumped off Rob Foster's off-spin, who shared the wickets with Mike Barnard, Joe Leach and Elliot Green, to leave Shrewsbury requiring just under five runs per over.
Shrewsbury’s reply stopped and started as Cambridge chipped away with regular wickets. After Ed Foster’s opening partner Ryan Bishop was bowled by James Cowan for 20, Joe Leach (26), Rob Foster (39) and Tom Cox (23) all contributed to ensure the required run rate didn’t climb too far beyond six an over.
Despite two run-outs at the other end during the penultimate over, the captain stayed calm under pressure, hitting two twos and two fours off Jimmy Handley to lead his team home with two balls to spare.
