The St Lawrence Ground was a venue for a celebrity cricket match on Wednesday 21st September in aid of Children in Need.
The match between The Bunburys and the St Lawrence College XI featured a number of stars, including Freddie Flintoff, Ronnie Irani, DJ Chris Evans and Kent players, including Adam Ball and Sam Northeast.
The St Lawrence Ground was made available for the school match following a £65,000 bid to stage the game, made during a Children in Need auction on Chris Evans BBC Radio 2 breakfast show in 2010.
Malcolm Bluemel, Chairman of digital radio station Planet Rock, won the bid and donated the prize to his son Conner’s school, St Lawrence College in Ramsgate.
David English, the man behind the famous Bunbury team secured the services of a number of former England cricketers for the match, as well as Oliver and James Phelps – The Weasley twins in Harry Potter films.
